Today we are going to look at 2 of the most anicipated first person shooter games that came out recently and is receiving massive reviews by gamers across the world. They are MAG by Zipper Interactive and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 by Infinity Ward. Both games are awesome “real world” WAR games but what are some of the things that draws a line between these 2 fantastic games? You’re about to find out.

First, Lets talk about MAG. MAG, as most people might not know, is a massive online first person shooter that utilizes a unique server architecture. This server architecture can support up to 256 gamers. With that being said, if you’re the type of person who enjoys playing single player campaigns, then this really isn’t the game for you. However, if you like to blow up the heads of your enimies and then taunt them afterwards till they fall off their computer chairs from stress and anxiety, then this game is what you’re looking for.

In MAG, you will team up in groups of 8 called a squad. 4 Squads will make a platoon and 4 platoons will make a company. You are ranked by the your performance within each squad. The better you do, the higher rank you will achieve. Once you become commander, you have the power to direct the battle or participate directly in combat.

Personally, I would say that I am very impressed with the server as it supported 256 players with very very low lag. Although players are allowed to ignore orders anytime they like, serious players who have higher rankings are the ones who truely know the importance of teamwork. You’ll be surprised as to the amount of coordination at higher levels.

In terms of Graphics and Sound, the quality is not the best. Modern Warfare 2 definately wins in this area. However, for a 256 player game, I would say it’s actually far better than what I had originally expected. Gameplay experience is the most important aspect for mulitplayer games like this. This is the exact reason why counter strike is still a popular shooter in net cafes. What makes MAG stand out is the unique mulitplayer experience.

MAG is definately the game for you if you enjoy massive online gaming experience. You can find out more information about MAG here.

Lets compare this with Modern Warfare 2. As you may or may not know, Modern Warfare 2 is one of the most talked about first-person shooters to date. Along with high reviews by professional reviewers. Modern Warfare 2 is a fairly detailed action shooter packed with slick mini missions and a very compelling and engaging storyline. You can check out a more detailed review of this game here. When brought face to face with MAG, the mulitplayer aspect of both games is what draws the line between these 2.

The online multiplayer mode of Modern Warfare 2 includes Free-For-All, Search & Destroy, Demolition, Domination, Team Deathmatch, and Capture The Flag game modes. This is completely different from MAG’s unique leveling system and massive online experience. If you are the type of gamer who enjoys rankings and online reputations, then choose MAG. If you like different varieties of mulitplayer missions all in one package, then choose Modern Warfare 2.
